Local groups and dwarf galaxies

A great presentation by Emily Charles of the Astrophysics Department of University of Surrey last Friday night. Ranging from dwarf galaxies to some of the observation challenges being thrown up by dark matter theory Emily’s presentation continued the NAS tradition of giving space for astronomical talks at the cutting edge of research.

As long time NAS member John Adrian Orr remarked :-

‘A very engaging and well-presented talk about a complex subject. Emily is clearly a great science communicator as well as a smart PhD student! It was also excellent to see so many people at the observatory! I think that’s the best turn out I’ve seen in 2022. Thanks to Georgina/Roger for organising and managing the event, it is appreciated and valued! Feels like we’re getting back to pre-pandemic times!
