We had a large gathering of members for the partial Solar Eclipse on Wednesday August 12th 2026, which was lovely and just what our facilites were designed for.
We were also blessed with perfect weather for the natural specatcle.
During the eclipse there was a noticeable reduction in air temperature as the moon covered the sun and then an increase in temperature as the eclipse waned. The light intensisty also varied throughout the eclipse, although not going really dark as this was only a partial eclipse.
Several of us remained throughout the night to observe the Perseid meteor shower and were not disapointed byt the show of meteors in the dark nioght sky.
