Nicole Sutherland of Natural History Museum.

Overview:
Some of the most promising targets for life beyond Earth are the ice-covered oceans on moons around Jupiter and Saturn. I will cover the history and future of icy world exploration, their habitability, and my own research into extreme conditions chemistry and its implications for our understanding of icy moons.
Personal Bio/introduction
I am a PhD student based at the Natural History Museum London and University College London. Previously, I completed my undergraduate studies in Physics at Durham University, with a focus on Materials Science and Astrophysics. Now, I combine these disciplines to study the unique materials that form under the extreme conditions of alien worlds. In particular, I investigate novel salt hydrates that form under high pressures and low temperatures relevant to icy moons such as Ganymede, Europa, and Callisto.
I’m looking forward to introducing everyone to icy worlds and the work that I do to probe their interior chemistry! Let me know if you need anything else.
