How to join the Norwich Astronomical Society

Current membership rates

Please note that the current membership year ends on 31st August 2026.

Anyone joining the Society between June 1st and August 31st 2026 will automatically be given membership until August 2027, that is up to three months free!

Single £30.00 One adult
Family £42.00 Two or more people at the same address
Concession £23.00 One person, 18 years or under / 65 years or over / student card holders.
Associate £55.00 Schools, clubs and other societies giving access for up to 5 members per visit.

On joining, new members will receive:

  • a membership card
  • access to our online “Cygnus” articles
  • access to members’ lectures and workshops
  • access to restricted areas of the Website including the NAS Forum area
  • use of the Observatory site facilities and equipment (some subject to initial training).

When you have completed and sent us your application form (opposite), once your subscription has been paid you will be emailed to inform you that you are now a member. Attachments to this email will include your new membership card, together with details on how to access the members only area of the N.A.S. web site and how to get to Seething Observatory

Of course, you are most welcome to visit the Observatory and have a tour of the facilities on any club night or public open evening where you can apply for membership in person!

The nature of the Astronomical activities, which are typically performed at night in the dark, preclude us from being able to monitor any particular individual. We will not therefore knowingly accept anyone for membership of our Observatory who is a convicted child sex offender or subject to the notification requirements of the Sexual Offences Act 2003, or subject to a Sexual Risk Order or Child Abduction Notice.

    Once your application is submitted you will receive an automated email with bank account details so that you can transfer the appropriate amount for membership. Please use your name as reference.

    The Society is run by volunteers, as a charity, to provide a variety of outreach activities, including open evenings, public events and group visits. Members benefit from use of the site and equipment, members only talks and a community of like minded enthusiasts.
