SUMMARY:Rob Tate: The Good the Bad and the Ugly - The Astrophysics of Sci-Fi Movies [Members]
DESCRIPTION:From galaxy-wide space travel to hopping backwards and forwards in time\, Sci-Fi movies love to push the boundaries of science and often blur the fanciful with the possible. In this light-hearted look at the genre\, Rob Tate will look at some of the most iconic movies and address the science behind them\, looking for not just the good and the bad but also the downright ugly. \nThis talk is targeted at a family audience\, so whether you’re an Elliot Taylor or an Obi-wan-kenobi there should be something for everyone.

SUMMARY:Rob Tate: The Good the Bad and the Ugly - A Talk on the Science of Sci-Fi Movies [Public]
DESCRIPTION:There will be two talks (around 50 minutes each) starting at 7:30 pm and 8:30 pm \nFrom galaxy-wide space travel to hopping backwards and forwards in time\, Sci-Fi movies love to push the boundaries of science and often blur the fanciful with the possible. \nPlease note: \nTickets are non-refundable.    \nOur talks are generally family-friendly\, any exceptions will be clearly stated in the event description above.  The observatory will be open for you to look around from 7.00 pm on the night of the talk.  You will have a chance to view the night sky if the weather cooperates\, before or after the talk.   \nWe serve refreshments (tea\, coffee\, hot chocolate\, squash) on site for very reasonable costs.   \nWe have limited parking at the observatory itself\, so provided you don’t have mobility issues\, you may be required to park at our overflow parking at Seething Aerodrome\, about 200 m further down Toad Lane. \nAbout your ticket payment \nWe use a company called Zeffy to sell tickets because it charges us nothing — so 100% of your ticket price goes straight to Norwich Astronomical Society. \nAt checkout\, Zeffy will ask you to add an optional tip to support their platform. This is entirely optional. To skip it\, just change the tip amount to £0.00 before completing your payment. \n
