SUMMARY:Adrian Orr: Where are the Aliens? Exploring the Fermi Paradox [Public]
DESCRIPTION:In a vast universe more than 13 billion years old and in our own Milky Way Galaxy made up of more than 200 billion stars\, surely there must be life on other worlds? Yet so far\, no definitive proof has been established for life beyond the Earth. In this non-technical talk aimed at a wide audience\, Amateur Astronomer Adrian Orr will use some of the ideas posed by the Physicist Enrico Fermi to try and answer the question\, is there intelligent life out in the universe? \nTICKETS WILL BECOME AVAILABLE IN THE SUMMER

SUMMARY:Mark Thompson: Mars\, Secrets of the Red Planet
DESCRIPTION:Mars has fascinated humanity for centuries\, but the closer we look\, the more intriguing it becomes. In this talk\, Mark will explore the geology\, atmosphere\, and extraordinary landscape of our nearest planetary neighbor; from the Solar System’s tallest volcano to its vast canyon system that dwarfs anything on Earth. He will also look at what the latest rovers and orbiters have revealed about Mars’s watery past\, what that means for the possibility of ancient life\, and why the Red Planet sits at the center of humanity’s ambitions for future exploration. \n\nTICKETS WILL BECOME AVAILABLE IN THE SUMMER\n\n[Image courtesy of ESA]

SUMMARY:Rob Tate: Einstein For Dummies [Members]
DESCRIPTION:It is now well over a century since Einstein turned the world of Physics upside down.  His insights into the true nature of space and time\, along with his work laying some of the foundations of what was to become Quantum Mechanics are arguably the biggest contribution to science by a single individual\, ever.\n\nCome with Rob Tate as he takes you on a journey from a falling apple in the garden of a farmhouse in Lincolnshire to the detection of the collision of black holes on the other side of our galaxy. Whilst the youngest may find some of the talk difficult to follow it is targeted at all that have a fascination with how the universe works and will leave you hungry to find out more.

SUMMARY:Mark Thompson: Jupiter\, King of the Planets [Public]
DESCRIPTION:Jupiter is the largest planet in our Solar System\, with a storm that has raged for centuries and a magnetic field so powerful it would be visible to the naked eye if we could see it. In this talk\, Mark will unpack what makes Jupiter such a dominant force\, from its swirling cloud belts and iconic Great Red Spot to its remarkable family of moons\, some of which may harbor conditions capable of supporting life. Whether you’re new to the night sky or a seasoned observer\, Jupiter never fails to astonish. \nTICKETS WILL BECOME AVAILABLE IN THE SUMMER \n[Image courtesy of ESA]
