SUMMARY:Adrian Orr: Where are the Aliens? Exploring the Fermi Paradox [Public]
DESCRIPTION:In a vast universe more than 13 billion years old and in our own Milky Way Galaxy made up of more than 200 billion stars\, surely there must be life on other worlds? Yet so far\, no definitive proof has been established for life beyond the Earth. In this non-technical talk aimed at a wide audience\, Amateur Astronomer Adrian Orr will use some of the ideas posed by the Physicist Enrico Fermi to try and answer the question\, is there intelligent life out in the universe?  \nPlease note:  \nTickets are non-refundable.    \nOur talks are generally family-friendly\, any exceptions will be clearly stated in the event description above.  The observatory will be open for you to look around from 7.00 pm on the night of the talk.  You will have a chance to view the night sky if the weather cooperates\, before or after the talk.   \nWe serve refreshments (tea\, coffee\, hot chocolate\, squash) on site for very reasonable costs.   \nWe have limited parking at the observatory itself\, so provided you don’t have mobility issues\, you may be required to park at our overflow parking at Seething Aerodrome\, about 200 m further down Toad Lane. \nAbout your ticket payment \nWe use a company called Zeffy to sell tickets because it charges us nothing — so 100% of your ticket price goes straight to Norwich Astronomical Society. \nAt checkout\, Zeffy will ask you to add an optional tip to support their platform. This is entirely optional. To skip it\, just change the tip amount to £0.00 before completing your payment.
