SUMMARY:Paul Brocklehurst: Mapping The Heavens [Public]
DESCRIPTION:How do we make mental\, physical & virtual maps of the night sky? Throughout history\, people have pictured the heavens from various perspectives using evolving technologies to capture its secrets. Paul Brocklehurst’s talk will look at those efforts starting in the Stone Age & ending in the Space Age.  \nPlease note:  \nTickets are non-refundable.    \nOur talks are generally family-friendly\, any exceptions will be clearly stated in the event description above.  The observatory will be open for you to look around from 7.00 pm on the night of the talk.  You will have a chance to view the night sky if the weather cooperates\, before or after the talk.   \nWe serve refreshments (tea\, coffee\, hot chocolate\, squash) on site for very reasonable costs.   \nWe have limited parking at the observatory itself\, so provided you don’t have mobility issues\, you may be required to park at our overflow parking at Seething Aerodrome\, about 200 m further down Toad Lane. \nAbout your ticket payment \nWe use a company called Zeffy to sell tickets because it charges us nothing — so 100% of your ticket price goes straight to Norwich Astronomical Society. \nAt checkout\, Zeffy will ask you to add an optional tip to support their platform. This is entirely optional. To skip it\, just change the tip amount to £0.00 before completing your payment.
